Review of Aladdin at the Shaw Theatre London

Aladdin at Shaw Theatre

Ooh I do love a panto and Aladdin at the Shaw Theatre certainly didn't disappoint. It is the second year for 'Plummer Wood Productions' and they are certainly proving that they are here to stay in panto land. Aladdin is packed with panto punches from beginning to end, full of catchy songs, an abundance of glittery costumes, stunning washes of colour and all the jazz hands you could wish for. You can sit back and savour a spectacular magic carpet ride (watch out for that big moment). All … [Read more...]

Review of Macbeth at Mercury Theatre Colchester

The movement direction (Matthew Cullum – Twelve Angry Men, The Butterfly Lion) was very effective. The … [Read more...]

Review of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at Theatre Royal Drury Lane

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory

Lesson learned. Never judge a book by its cover. The first time I went to the Theatre Royal Drury Lane was to see 42nd Street in 1984, so a distant memory - and the second was Oliver! with Kerry Ellis. We sat in the gods. You get to the top by another doorway outside and gain no perception whatsoever of what the theatre is like. I'm sure it was very good, but I have Upper Circle issues that involve thoughts of sick bags and clinging onto the seat next to me, hence my apathy for going back to … [Read more...]
