When my Grandpa told me we were going to see Gangsta Granny live on stage! - I was very, very excited. I have read the book loads of times and watched the TV programme which I really enjoyed. Now it was going to be live on stage in a real theatre and I was going to see it! But then he told me that I would have to write a review of the show – something I had never done before so here goes. When we got to the theatre, there was a red carpet outside and a lot of photographers … [Read more...]
Review of The Naked Truth at Leicester Square Theatre
Once again London’s West End welcomed the Cockney charm of comedian and playwright, Johnny Tait and I believe his passion and commitment to theatre gets stronger and stronger as he launches his third production in Theatreland. Was London ready for The Naked Truth? Judging by the queue outside the Leicester Square Theatre, I would say, yes it was. Review of Much Ado About Nothing at Theatre Royal Haymarket
There is a certain joy behind the eyes of the entire cast of Much Ado About Nothing, or Love’s Labour’s Won, playing the Theatre Royal Haymarket, alongside Love’s Labour’s Lost. The cashier delightedly reassures me that they are, and he's working the first few and last shifts to see both sides of the ridiculousness. A real Olympic endurance test of comedy sees the amalgamation of Game of Thrones and Lord of The Rings through 25 2-hour 'episodes', with 15-minute breaks for the cast and audience to get a drink. Notably, the programme makes a distinct differentiation … [Read more...]
5-star Factor 2025 at The Rhodes Arts Complex
Having read the novel Factor 2025 which at times had me laughing out loud when I wasn’t feeling like I wanted to slap the central character. I was interested to see how the book would be adapted to the stage. Arriving at the theatre I was given my tickets in a white envelope with a list of the cast, it read like a line-up of acts for a Royal Variety show. Comedian and author Johnny Tait has very cleverly written a play with a deep disturbing underlining story of how far … [Read more...]
