Our Q&A with Luke Bayer
Q: Recalling your time in the musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie – what are your overriding memories of being a part of the production?
Luke: I ADORE THE SHOW! I feel truly so lucky to have been the second person ever to play Jamie New! He is so much fun and his story is so important and it truly touches me how much through the show we were able to help so many different people! I will always remember seeing people of all ages falling in love with the show and it helping them in ways we never thought imaginable. Long Live Jamie!!!
Q: Alongside Millie O’Connell, you are leading the cast of ‘Soho Cinders’ – what made you decide to join the production?
Luke: I adore Millie and the show! I think its composers Stiles and Drewe are fantastic, and I was excited at the chance to work with Will Keith, our wonderful director! There were truly so many things drawing me to the project and now I’m doing it, the cast are soooooo bloomin’ wonderful and I’m just having the best time!
Q: What can you tell us about the character that you play and how they fit into the storyline?
Luke: I play Robbie who is the ‘Cinderella’ of the story, he’s kind and a bit silly… (like me!) and finds himself in a sticky situation shall we say! I don’t wanna say to much, buy your tickets and come find out!
Q: What is at the heart of Soho Cinders?
Luke: A story of acceptance, love and understanding.
Q: Do you have a favourite song and scene from the show?
Luke: I love performing ‘Wishing For The Normal’ with Millie. We didn’t know each other very well before starting the show but we hit it off straight away and she is so much fun to be around that we feel so free and connected which is wonderful when you’re onstage with someone. I also love singing Robbie’s solo ‘Glass Slippers’, which comes in the second half.
Q: Why should theatregoers get along to see Soho Cinders?
Luke: Because it’s an awesome show and I think we have a great production! The cast are phenomenal and it’s gonna be a really fun one! It has a little bit of something for everyone. Maybe bring your tissues, but be prepared to laugh too! The Ugly Step Sisters are brilliant, and it’s truly a feat for me to not laugh along with them when they are onstage as they are hysterical!!
