Review of Ferris and Milnes – Christmas Cracker at the Ambassadors Theatre

December 15, 2016 Last updated: May 12, 2018 5:57 pm By Lee Cogger

Dominic Ferris

Dominic Ferris and Martin Milnes debut in the West End with their production Ferris & Milnes - Christmas Cracker. They bill it as a theatrical extravaganza and I am pleased to say they deliver on this. Milnes has, what can only be described as, a phenomenal vocal range. The high notes he can hit and sustain is beyond impressive. He describes himself as more classical and legitimate than Ferris who is able to deliver a wide range of styles both vocally and through his piano playing. Which … [Read more...]

Stage Door Records are pleased to announce that the previously unreleased studio cast recording of the 1984 West End musical ‘The Importance’ is to be released on February 26th, 2016. The CD release continues Stage Door’s commitment to preserve ‘lost’ British theatre scores of the past 50 years. Sean O'Mahony's musical adaptation of Oscar Wilde's The Importance Of Being Earnest was first staged at London's Ambassadors Theatre in May 1984. Produced in association with Ray Cooney's The … [Read more...]

Wuthering Heights National Youth Theatre 2015 REP Review

October 7, 2015 Last updated: May 3, 2019 8:26 pm By Amy Stow

Wuthering Heights

Wuthering Heights, adapted by Stephanie Street, is one of three productions in this year’s National Youth Theatre Rep Company. Following the intertwined lives of Cathy and Heathcliff, this play charts their meeting, their childhood, first romances, their inevitable separation and the destruction this leaves in its wake. Directed by Emily Lim, the play allows a range of actors tackle the different life stages of its eponymous characters, told in hindsight from Cathy’s … [Read more...]

A Be Bop a Lula! party at the Ambassadors Theatre London

March 5, 2015 Last updated: May 3, 2019 8:26 pm By Danny Reyntiens

Be Bop a Lula Ambassadors Theatre

I personally prefer shows that pay homage to stars rather than the Jukebox Musicals. You know what you get rather than some thin storyline weaved with famous songs. And Be Bop a Lula! proved it once again for me. The audience wasn’t your typical West End Audience, A gentleman next to me, told me it was his first time in years he was back in London and his first West End Theatre. “I Like It” he said approvingly. The Ambassadors Theatre is small but perfect for a show or tribute concert like this. … [Read more...]
