“After seven years there’s always a big change. Like the body it takes seven years for every cell to replace itself. Every seven years….” Every Seven Years is a “two handed play” which tells the story of North East born Pam (Charlotte Baker) and Ralph (Ben Fensome) who hails from the South West. We first meet them when they are both approaching 21 and at university; the play then chronicles their life together including new borns, new jobs, milestone celebrations, sadness and fights. The two … [Read more...]

Matthew Bourne’s Sleeping Beauty at New Wimbledon Theatre – Review
Not being known for holding back from a Challenge, in 2012 renowned choreographer Sir Matthew Bourne (knighted in the 2016 New Year Honours for services to dance) produced the third of his Tchaikovsky ballets, the epic romance Sleeping Beauty. Come forward to 2016 and once again this show is available for all to see as it tours the UK with a new cast. I was very fortunate to be able to see the show last night at the New Wimbledon Theatre. The show opens in 1890 with a crescendo of noise as … [Read more...]
Avenue Q at the New Wimbledon Theatre – Review
Avenue Q opened on Broadway in 2003 and since then it has come back time and again. A real coming of age show that highlights the trials and tribulations of growing up. I was first introduced to Avenue Q by a friend, who was blown away by the show and the messages it was portraying. I initially heard a few of the songs and if I am brutally honest I really wasn’t sure that I would enjoy the show, how wrong I was? Now whenever I hear Avenue Q isn’t far from town I am eager to be reminded of … [Read more...]
Review of Chicago The Musical at New Wimbledon Theatre

I’m sure when Bob Fosse first co-authored the book (alongside Fred Ebb) and choreographed this musical, that he could never predict that in 2016 it would still be as compelling and entertaining for audiences of today. Only in it’s second week of it’s UK tour it was nice to see that each one of the 1,670 seats at the New Wimbledon Theatre was taken, something which is … [Read more...]
