Queen of British Soul, Beverley Knight who stars as ‘Felicia Farrell’ alongside Killian Donnelly as ‘Huey Calhoun’, has also announced that she will be extending her run in MEMPHIS THE MUSICAL until July 2015. The production, which is currently nominated for ten publicly-voted WhatsOnStage Awards, continues to book through to 31 October 2015.
Winner of four Tony Awards including Best Musical, Memphis The Musical focuses on Felicia, a black singer whose career is on the rise but who can’t break out of the segregated clubs of 1950s Memphis Tennessee.
She meets Huey, a white radio DJ whose love of music transcends race lines and airwaves. When the two collaborate, her soulful music reaches radio audiences everywhere, and the Golden Era of early rock ‘n’ roll takes flight. But as things start to heat up, they discover that the world may really not be ready for their music – or their love.
Fresh from her stellar West End success in The Bodyguard, Beverley Knight stars in Memphis, which has been a smash hit on Broadway and on a triumphant 55-city North American tour.
