Lindsay Posner directs Tanya Franks, Alexander Hanson, Frances O’Connor and Robert Portal. The Truth opens on 16th March 2016, with previews from 10th March, and runs until 7th May 2016. Following performances at the Menier, the productions run at Theatre Royal Bath from 9th to 14th May, 2016.
Two couples. Friendship, suspicion, deceit….and the truth.
Following the phenomenal success of Zeller’s The Father and The Mother, the Menier Chocolate Factory in association with Theatre Royal Bath presents the UK première of Zeller’s biting new play The Truth from 10th March 2016.
Robert Portal, who plays the part of Michael, recently took time out to chat about The Truth.
What can you tell us about this production of The Truth?
Robert: It’s a fabulous on the edge of your seat play. As an audience you are on for a roller coaster ride. If it sounds like a thriller then perhaps in its way it is.
You play the role of Paul. What can you tell us about him?
He is the best friend of the main character Michel. That’s all I will say!
What do you enjoy most about working with Lindsay Posner?
Robert: Lindsay enjoys a relaxed atmosphere in rehearsals and has done a phenomenal amount of homework for all his productions. This is our 5th collaboration and he always manages to get something surprising out of me. He is extremely loyal and I’ve loved all the plays we’ve worked on together.
The Truth runs through to 7th May – what is next for you after that date?
Robert: No idea.
There is so much to see in and around London – why should everyone get along to see The Truth?
Robert: It’s very funny, slick, and short. Florian Zeller has written a stunning play and I hope people enjoy watching it as much as we all enjoy playing it.
