It is always quite satisfying when you can book theatre tickets for a show you have never seen and be confident in the knowledge that you are going to get exactly what is promised. This is most certainly true of That’s Entertainment. The show is a first c lass extravaganza of classic and iconic musical numbers from stage and screen from the 30s, 40s and 50s with a sprinkling of other well-loved musical gems. That’s Entertainment is another quality offering from the producers of the sell-out show, Puttin’ On The Ritz.
That’s Entertainment is currently touring the UK, with an extremely talented leading cast of West End performers and amazing ensemble dancers, with some extra special guests including Jane McDonald, The Overtones, Jonathan Ansell and Elaine C Smith. This sequin encrusted, feel good show is currently playing at The Churchill Theatre in Bromley, with the uber talented Ruthie Henshall as the special guest star. Having appeared in every major musical in the West-End and Broadway, Henshall is a delicious addition to the show and certainly adds some sparkle and magic with her distinct and powerful voice. Henshall started her first segment with All That Jazz from Chicago and Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries from Fosse. This was the perfect start for Henshall and the first of her many appearances on stage. Armed with nothing but a microphone and her voice, Henshall effortlessly filled the stage, exuding confidence and musical glamour.
The show really is a feast for the eyes and ears, every song is instantly recognisable and you will find yourself singing and dancing along, even if it is just a jaunty shoulder move or hand clap. The fantastic collection of perfectly chosen songs comes from some of the best composers in musical history, including George Gershwin, Irving Berlin and Rogers and Hammerstein. The audience in Bromley were clearly having a wonderful evening and relishing every single number and did not hesitate to join in. You are guaranteed an evening of pure entertainment and will leave the theatre feeling lighter and happier.
That’s Entertainment is playing at The Churchill Theatre, Bromley, until Saturday 2nd July 2016. Treat yourself to an evening of classy entertainment and book your ticket as soon as you can.
