On Monday 15th August, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s record-breaking 2015 Olivier award nominated musical Cats, will be holding open dance auditions for the 2017 tour of the show.
Based on T. S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, Cats first returned to the West End in December 2014 reuniting the original creative team – Director Trevor Nunn, Associate Director and Choreographer Gillian Lynne, Designer John Napier and Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber. Following a second season at the London Palladium last Christmas the production is currently on tour in the UK, recently reopened on Broadway, and is set to embark on an international tour in 2017.
Experienced dancers, aged 21 and over, are invited to register to audition from 9:30 to 12:00 on Monday 15 August at Pineapple Studios in Covent Garden. Auditions will take place between 10:00 and 18:00. Successful auditionees will have the opportunity to travel the world with the musical phenomenon and become part of Cats history.
Cats, one of the longest-running shows in West End and on Broadway, received its world premiere at the New London Theatre in 1981 where it played for 21 record-breaking years and almost 9,000 performances. Since its world premiere, Cats has been presented in over 30 countries, has been translated into 15 languages and has been seen by more than 73 million people worldwide.
