Record-breaking Thriller Live announces a new West End booking period, a new UK tour – and opens tonight in China!
Michael Jackson first sang “Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough” in 1979 in the first song to showcase his talent as a solo artist, winning him his first solo Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.It’s been in Thriller Live, the West End concert spectacular, produced to celebrate the career of the world’s greatest entertainer, since day one and could be the show’s anthem as producers announce yet another new booking period to October 1st, 2017.
Thriller Live initially opened in the West End at the Lyric Theatre in January 2009 and is currently the 10th longest running show – musical or play – in West End history. The production has received more than 3,200 nightly standing ovations at the Lyric, where it also holds the record as the longest running show since the theatre started entertaining audiences in December 1888.
Thriller Live recently sold its 2 millionth West End ticket and has now been seen by over 4 million people in 32 countries and played over 5,100 performances worldwide.
The show’s producers today also announce that Thriller Live will set out on January 27th, 2017 on a major new tour, playing 12 theatres across the UK and several countries across Europe.The UK tour dates are: Southport Theatre (27 & 28 Jan); Eden Court Theatre, Inverness (30 Jan – 4 Feb); His Majesty’s Theatre, Aberdeen (6 – 11 Feb); Norwich Theatre Royal (13 – 18 Feb); Wolverhampton Grand Theatre (21- 25 Feb); Venue Cymru, Llandudno (27 Feb – 1 March); Sands Centre Carlisle (2 – 4 March); Gaiety Theatre Dublin (6 – 11 March); Waterfront Hall, Belfast (16 – 18 March); Grand Theatre Swansea (20 – 25 March); Grand Theatre Leeds (11 – 15 April); Belgrade Theatre, Coventry (25 – 29 April).
Thriller Live opens today, Friday 30th September, in the People’s Republic of China, chosen as the opening production in the state-of-the-art 1,200-seat Parisian Theatre at the heart of the magnificent $2.9 billion dollar hotel complex, the Sands Parisian Macao Hotel in Macao. The hotel and resort opened its doors to the public for the first time on Tuesday 13th September amid fanfare and celebration, designed to bring a sense of magic, wonder and the resplendent essence of the famed “City of Light” to Macao. Thriller Live will play for seven weeks.

Thriller Live is unlike other West End musicals. There is no script or story, it is instead an dazzling spectacular concert celebration of Michael Jackson’s music and dance legacy, bringing to life on stage his amazing high-energy dancing and the pulsating sound of many of pop’s greatest hits, and features specially created video footage and effects and dazzling choreography by the show’s award-winning director, Gary Lloyd.
