West End Live was a fun-packed weekend showcasing the best of our UK theatre and its stars. Not only was there the main stage with two days full of entertainment but there were lots of stalls where you could see props and costumes from the West End, get your face painted and buy tickets for all the shows.
A big hit from the weekend was Bat out of Hell who performed on both days in full costume. All shows on stage were accompanied by Andy & Jack, sign language interpreters.
Sunday had many highlights as some of the West End’s top UK theatre stars gave solo performances. These included Rachel Tucker, Nathan Amzi – who was joined by his friend and the lead singer from the Kaiser Chiefs Ricky Wilson, John Owen-Jones, the current Phantom Ben Forster, Kerry Ellis and Willemijn Verkaik along with many others.
The audience were treated to many shows including a preview of “Everyone’s Talking About Jamie” which was written by The Feeling’s Dan Gillespie Sells which went down a treat with all the theatre fans in the crowd and will be hitting the Apollo Theatre in November this year.
The strong message this weekend was LONDON IS OPEN and our theatre is the best and something for everyone. The weekend closed with an uplifting version of “You’re the Voice” by four our of West End stars and had everyone singing as they left Trafalgar Square after another very successful weekend of theatre fun.
