For two shows only, The Girls From Oz, a trio of expat singing talent and their Pommy Pianist, will pay a tongue-in-cheek tribute to their beloved home country on 26th January 2018. Their cabaret act features songs by Australian artists such as Kylie, Men At Work, John Farnham and Vegemite, but sung as you’ve never heard them before! The Girls From Oz have given these songs their own 3 part harmony twist with a touch of dancing, some instrumental multitasking and plenty of laughs.
The Girls From Oz are made up of a bevy of bonza beauties currently living in London and this performance will be starring Natasha Veselinovic (‘Les Mis’ international tour and ‘The Railway Children’), Chloe Rose-Taylor (‘Carrie – the Musical’ Australia) and Melissa Gall (‘Gypsy’ and ‘The Sound Of Music’ Australia) and are joined by their pommy pianist, Simon Beck (‘Rocky Horror Show’, ‘Monty Python at the O2’).
After a successful run at last summers Edinburgh Fringe Festival, The Girls are returning to London to share all things Aussie and prove that Australia does have culture…right!?
The group is the brainchild of Singer/Actor Kara Lane (Mrs Banks in ‘Mary Poppins’, Magenta in ‘The Rocky Horror Show’) who says “There are so many Aussies in London and our culture is so intertwined with the British culture that our shows just seem to work well here. Enjoyed by both British and Aussie audiences it’s a great way to showcase Australian talent and all of our girls have oodles of personality which is really what makes the show! The harmonies are sophisticated, interesting and beautiful but it’s the Girls sense of humour that really gives the edge to the group”.
The show is being performed at The Crazy Coqs on Piccadilly Circus. Art Deco features and cabaret style seating with table service make it one of London’s most stunning and prestigious cabaret venues.
From Australia Day 2017
“A touch of actor-musicianship added some extra spice to an already hot performance – quite how this is achieved would be revealing too much. It’s a clichéd saying these days, but this is a vocal harmony group that could read the phone book (do they still exist?) and make it sound beautiful. An uplifting night out.”
