The Planktonic Players are this season returning to London’s Fringe to present an original and innovative platform that showcases the work of Writers, Actors and Directors at the Winter Shuffle Festival for St Clements in December 2013.
The Players Lab will invite audiences to delight in a new approach to site-specific entertainment. The platform will involve local artists, coming together to collaborate in celebration of site specific performance, as part of this historical building and the work of the Urban Land Community Trust.
Audiences can expect to watch four original plays, each 15 minutes in length. Each play will guide the audience through the austere building of St Clements. The Players Lab will be running alongside multiple events at the festival and as such will have set times for each performance.
“We hope this platform will strengthen and diversify the skill-sets of those involved, and enable us to grow as a collaboration-focused company within the performance industry. Planktonic is fundamentally a company looking to evoke change around the perception of theatre and how artists are given the opportunity to create it.”
Evelyn-Grace Kennedy – The Planktonic Players.

The Winter Shuffle Festival, 2013
St Clements is a former workhouse and psychiatric unit, in the heart of Mile End, and this December once again becomes the staging ground for the formidable Shuffle Festival.
In 2012, the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson made history by establishing the first Urban Land Community Trust in London. A community focused initiative; first curated by Danny Boyle in August 2013 the Shuffle Festival is raising the profile of St Clements and striving towards the education of its heritage and value for the people of Mile End.
The artistic community involved in the project, hope to establish this historical site as a new Arts & Science Venue for London. For Planktonic, the value of this project lies in the opportunity for local creatives to come together in appreciation of this establishment, and further to be provided with an exceptional platform to showcase their talent, skill and drive to support this community-focused project.
