Announcements from The National Theatre include the following:
Sam Mendes will direct Simon Russell Beale in the title role of Shakespeare’s play at the Olivier Theatre, from 23rd January 2014. The cast will also include Kate Fleetwood as Goneril, Anna Maxwell Martin as Regan, Adrian Scarborough as the Fool, Stanley Townsend as Kent and Olivia Vinall as Cordelia. It will be designed by Anthony Ward, with lighting by Paul Pyant, video design by Jon Driscoll, fight direction by Terry King and sound design by Paul Arditti.
A Taste of Honey by Shelagh Delaney, directed by Bijan Sheibanin and is due to open in the Lyttelton Theatre on 18th February, with previews starting on 10th February. The cast includes Lesley Sharp and Kate O’Flynn. The production will be designed by Hildegard Bechtler with movement direction by Aline David, lighting design by Paul Anderson and sound design by Ian Dickinson.
Blurred Lines, is a new play created by Carrie Cracknell and Nick Payne,and written by Nick Payne, will begin previews on 16th January and open on 22nd January at The Shed. The cast includes Marion Bailey, Michaela Coel, Bryony Hannah, Sinéad Matthews, Ruth Sheen, Claire Skinner and Susannah Wise. The production will be designed by Bunny Christie, with lighting by Lucy Carter, music by Stuart Earle, sound by David McSeveney and movement by Ann Yee.
