Broadway’s Eden Espinosa Headlines CHRISTMAS IN NEW YORK at the Palace Theatre Today
Following a four-year absence from the festive theatrical calendar, the West End’s popular seasonal concert offering Christmas in New York returns by popular demand for one night only at the Palace Theatre in London tonight, Monday 9th December 2013. It also played its first ever regional date at the Palace Theatre in Manchester on Saturday 7th December 2013.
Broadway leading lady Eden Espinosa (Wicked, Brooklyn) is a leading light in Christmas in New York in both London and Manchester together with an accomplished cast of West End stars including Tori Allen-Martin (RENT, Hair), Lucy May Barker (Spring Awakening, Sweeney Todd), Andy Coxon (LES MISERABLES, Rocky Horror Show), Scott Garnham (LES MISERABLES, I Can’t Sing! The X Factor Musical), Luke Kempner (Avenue Q, South Pacific) and Zoe Rainey (Wicked, Hairspray).
London’s original Christmas in New York cast member Julie Atherton (Avenue Q, The Last 5 Years) will come along as a special guest in London.
Eden Espinosa is popular for playing the role of Elphaba in the musical Wicked on Broadway, in LA and San Franciso to wide acclaim. She is one of Broadway’s strongest female vocalists of the modern musical era whose other credits include headlining the world première of the musical Brooklyn and playing Maureen in the closing Broadway company of RENT, which was recorded on film and released worldwide on DVD.
From the producers of the West End’s Notes from New York series and Idina Menzel’s acclaimed West End and UK tour, Christmas in New York is full of musical moments. Eliciting a magical time of year in a much loved city, this acclaimed celebration of seasonal show tunes and classic carols is a musical theatre Christmas concert for all ages.
Songs include festive favourites such as ‘White Christmas’, carols including ‘O Holy Night’, a dose of Andrew Lloyd Webber and even a Mariah Carey Christmas song (or two).
Christmas in New York is produced by Neil Eckersley for Speckulation Entertainment, with artistic supervision by Paul Spicer and musical direction by Joe Louis Robinson, based on a concept conceived by Neil Eckersley, Paul Spicer, David Randall and Julie Atherton as part of the Notes from New York series.
