In partnership with IdeasTap, Writing East Midlands and BBC Writersroom, Curve have announced a quest for the most talented new voice in the East Midlands, which is a part of their commitment to telling incredible stories from the heart of the country. They are searching for writers who are looking to take the next step in their careers, with one lucky winner receiving a year’s worth of high-end mentors-hip, research and development support, and a direct cash award of £1,000 to help allow time to create a major new play that speaks to our region.
Who Can Enter?
Playwrights based in the East Midlands who have had a minimum of one but no more than three full-length plays professionally produced. For the avoidance of doubt, a full length play is classed as having a minimum 80 minute running time. A professional production is any production in which professionally trained actors (either paid or unpaid) performed the play for a minimum one week run at a theatre venue for a paying audience.
Candidates will be required to provide:
The first ten pages of their play.
A synopsis of the play (maximum one side of A4).
A CV or covering letter which clearly evidences how you meet the criteria described above.
