US/Canada News: A sing-along version of Frozen, Disney’s 3-D animated film that features the voices of Tony Award winner Idina Menzel, Tony nominee Jonathan Groff and stage and screen actress Kristen Bell, will be screened at 1000 venues commencing 31st January 2014.
Frozen fans have taken the film’s original songs and its soundtrack with such passion, that Disney have decided to create a version that would enable fans to celebrate the music. Dave Hollis, executive vice president of theatrical distribution of The Walt Disney Studios, in a statement. “It’s a great opportunity for families to get together and have some fun with these songs.”
According to Hollis, on-screen lyrics and a magical bouncing snowflake will accompany select showings; moviegoers can check local listings for showtimes and theatres. The duration of the sing-along run will vary by venue.
Disney’s “Frozen” received two Oscar nominations, including Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song (“Let It Go”). The film won a Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature.
The film uses original songs by husband-and-wife songwriters Robert Lopez (The Book of Mormon, Avenue Q) and Kristen Anderson-Lopez as well as an original score composed by Christophe Beck (The Muppets).
Additionally, Disney has released a multi-language version of the film’s hit song “Let It Go,” which can be seen below.
