According to Entertainment Weekly, television’s Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller hopes to revive that TV show as a film or a Broadway musical.
“There’s a couple of format options,” he told E! News. “[Warner Brothers studios and director Barry Sonnenfeld] said to me, ‘I have some ideas on how we could pull this off!’ I would love to do a musical, and I also would love to do a movie [as opposed to a Netflix run], because you have higher impact and it also has an iconography.”
The Emmy Award-winning comedy-drama television series was shown on ABC from October 2007 through to June 2009, and was also seen by UK audiences.
“I would love to do a musical and make it all about Kristin Chenoweth and her character, Olive Snook,” Fuller added. “I think it would be incredible!”
Narrated by Tony Award winner Jim Dale (Barnum, Candide), the series followed Ned, played by Lee Pace (The Normal Heart, “Lincoln”), a pie-maker who had the ability to bring dead things back to life with a touch. The cast also included Anna Friel (Closer, “You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger”), Chi McBride (“The Terminal,” “Golden Boy”), Tony and Emmy Award winner Chenoweth (Wicked, “Glee”), Tony Award nominee Ellen Greene (Little Shop of Horrors, The Threepenny Opera) and two-time Tony Award winner Swoosie Kurtz (The House of Blue Leaves, Fifth of July).
Eternal Flame – Pushing Daisies
I am sure many musical theatre fans would welcome seeing Kristin Chenoweth in a new musical, and what a fun show Pushing Daises is.
