Adapted for the stage by John Ginman, five actor-musicians take to the stage as Bram Stoker’s Dracula comes to Guildford’s Yvonne Arnaud Theatre on Monday 31st March and 1st April.
Drawing eclectically on a wide range of forms of popular entertainment that were established or emerging at the time, this vibrant and brilliantly creative version of the classic Victorian thriller remains faithful to the original whilst taking on a fresh lease of life.
Bram Stoker’s timeless gothic thriller embodies the struggle to break taboos, resist temptation and stop the unknown outside becoming the enemy within.
As Dracula’s shadow looms large over England, a small group of young men and women lead by Professor Van Helsing, are locked in a struggle where only the fittest will survive.
Director, Eliot Giuralarocca, said: “I was really keen to put together an ensemble of strong storytellers; creative and versatile performers, who could sing, move well and play an instrument. I’m really excited with the team we have in place. It’s a fabulously talented cast, with a muscular, new adaptation of Bram Stoker’s novel. We have all the ingredients needed to create something exciting, memorable and thought-provoking. I’m hoping we’ll give the audiences something that they can really get their teeth into!”
