For 10 years and with a TV audience of more than 20 million, the Morecambe & Wise Christmas Day specials were the most eagerly awaited TV event of the festive season.
Now Eric and Little Ern, an acclaimed, affectionate, moving and fantastically funny stage homage to the greatest comedy double act that Britain has ever seen, is following in their illustrious footsteps with its second London Christmas season.
Eric and Little Ern will run from 16th December to 11th January at St. James Theatre. Eric and Little Ern sets out on a 39-date UK tour at Manchester Opera House on 30th September. All the dates can be found at www.EricAndLittleErn.com
Eric and Little Ern, created and performed by Ian Ashpitel and Jonty Stephens, featuring classic material by Eddie Braben, Dick Hills and Sid Green, stormed the West End last Christmas, where it earned rave reviews, had is original run extended to March, and it was nominated for the Best Entertainment Olivier Award.
Eric and Little Ern vividly brings back warm memories of a bygone era.
Recreating some of the finest moments of Eric and Ernie’s television and stage performances, cherished moments from the archives sit alongside new material created by the performers. Together they make a brilliant comedy that recreates the all-ages appeal of Morecambe and Wise in their heyday, featuring classic material including the original Grieg Piano Concerto sketch and Eric’s take on Shakespeare
“You should come if you love Morecambe and Wise and you should come if you know nothing about them because both will learn something about their relationship and will laugh and possibly cry, but mostly laugh, a lot. It is after all about Morecambe and Wise.” From our previous interview with Eric and Little Ern’s Jonty Stephens and Ian Ashpitel
