A notice in the Forthcoming Marriages section of The Times states that Benedict Cumberbatch is engaged to his girlfriend, Sophie Hunter.
The announcement reads: “Mr B.T. Cumberbatch and Miss S.I. Hunter: The engagement is announced between Benedict, son of Wanda and Timothy Cumberbatch of London, and Sophie, daughter of Katharine Hunter of Edinburgh and Charles Hunter of London.”
According to The Telegraph a spokesman for the star today confirmed the pair had become engaged, but did not confirm a wedding date.
Sophie Hunter has a number of film and TV credits to her name, including roles in Torchwood and Midsomer Murders, and appearing in the 2004 film Vanity Fair. She also starred alongside David Tennant in the 2004 film Traffic Warden.
Hunter and Cumberbatch met on the set of Susan Luciani’s 2009 film Burlesque Fairytales, in which Hunter played Annabel Blythe-Smith to Cumberbatch’s Henry Clark.
