Once a year London’s iconic Southbank is transformed into a magical, festive filled wonderland of all things Christmas. Along with the usual and very welcome Christmas markets, activities and wide range of enticing food and drink, that give the Southbank the most amazing aroma, there is an addition that everyone should indulge in. This new addition comes in the form of a cheeky and highly entertaining show, La Soiree.
La Soiree is a show unlike any other, made up of some of the most highly skilled entertainers in their field, these acts blend seamlessly together to deliver this jaw dropping show. Created over ten years ago the show has toured all over the world, four continents, fourteen countries and more than twenty cities and countless audience members have fallen for the cheeky charm of this dazzling show. It would be impossible to describe this show as one specific genre, to try and do so would be an injustice as it dips into so many, cabaret, burlesque, music, comedy, physical theatre and circus. The eclectic mix of acts ensures that each individual taste is catered for, so whether you appreciate a strong singing voice, some tasteful yet cheeky nudity or death defying acrobatics, La Soiree can promise you an evening of high class entertainment.
One of the acts in the show that you must be made aware of is ‘Scotty the Blue Bunny’, this is one act that will have you questioning your eyesight. Dressed in a blue, skin tight lycra body suit, bunny ears and a tail and finished off fabulously with a pair of the highest high heels, Scotty the Blue Bunny has to be seen to be believed. This one man act fills the venue with his camp comedy, singing and interesting way of bursting balloons.
You probably think you have seen some impressive juggling at some stage, unless you have witnessed the genius of Marcus Monroe you can think again. This is juggling on a new level and not just jugging, Monroe has created a unique act which incorporates his own style of comedy. You will find yourself laughing out loud one moment and looking away in fear the next.
The comedy continues throughout the show in some of the other acts, Ursula Martinez pops up a few times throughout the evening but you never know what you are going to be faced with. Martinez seems to be a performer with many talents, including her cult striptease which involves the rather creative use of a red handkerchief. Not only does Martinez offer the audience a visual feast, she also delivers a comedic Spanish lesson that will have you tapping your feet and learning some Spanish, think twice before you put it to use though.
Quality is a word that has to be used to describe all of the acts in the show, there is not one low point or dip throughout the entire evening. The atmosphere and energy in the venue starts off high and is maintained throughout with each act that takes centre stage. Given the nature of the show and the acts we highly suspect that each show will deliver something different each night so you will probably want to book to go more than once.
