Hairspray The Musical at Edinburgh Playhouse October 2024

The Edinburgh Playhouse is gearing up to welcome the exuberant musical sensation Hairspray from Monday, 7 October to Saturday, 12 October 2024. This vibrant production promises to transport audiences back to 1960s Baltimore with its infectious energy and timeless message of acceptance.

Alex Bourne is set to don the housedress as Tracy’s mother, Edna Turnblad, whilst Norman Pace takes on the role of her lovable father, Wilbur.

West End sensation Brenda Edwards brings her powerhouse vocals to the character of Motormouth Maybelle, promising to raise the roof with showstoppers like “I Know Where I’ve Been”. Rebecca Thornhill is poised to deliver a deliciously villainous performance as Velma Von Tussle, with Ashley Samuels charming audiences as smooth-talking TV host Corny Collins.

The creative team behind this production is equally stellar. Paul Kerryson takes the helm as director, with Drew McOnie’s dynamic choreography sure to have audiences tapping their feet.
