Cinderella: Vienna Festival Ballet Company – Theatre Royal Windsor

Cinderella - Vienna Festival BalletAsk anyone to name a popular family pantomime, I bet the answer you would mostly hear would be Cinderella.

Let’s set that with music from Rossini coupled with choreography by Sheila Styles performed by the outstanding Vienna Festival Ballet Company, then we have a show to delight audiences of all ages as the VFB embark on a nationwide tour.

The opening is no different to any panto production telling this tale, it’s the kitchen scene with Cinderella sentenced to a life of drudgery, bullied by her ugly sisters, the beautiful Cinders has just her cat and the mice for company, the dancing was superb and the mime so well executed that there was no need for narration, the tale of the poor young lady dressed in rags was simple to follow.

Any mime artist looking to improve your performance? Then go and see Eleonora Falovo and Grace Hume as the ugly sisters, they had my companion and I chuckling from curtain up right up until the final curtain call.

Of course, Panto performed in any shape or form would not be the same without romance, that was provided by Thomas Bradshaw as the Handsome Prince and Cinderella performed by the lovely Angela Centomini.

For the perfect night out look out for The Vienna Festival Ballet Company, you will not be disappointed.

Vienna Festival Ballet is proud to present the classic tale of Cinderella, one of the best-known rags-to-riches fairy tales of all time. A mistreated young girl, a glass slipper, two comical ugly step-sisters and a handsome prince combine to make the perfect piece of story-telling.

Vienna Festival Ballet’s production of Cinderella is based on the traditional story, the ballet will surely touch and reach out to everyone’s heart, with its combination of pure classical dancing and a touch of pantomime. The music contains a collection of Rossini’s most famous operatic achievements and has been especially arranged for Vienna Festival Ballet.
