Tickets from £20.00

Based on the acclaimed novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked imagines a beguiling backstory to the lives of L. Frank Baum’s beloved characters, and reveals the magic that shaped the destinies of two unlikely friends on their remarkable journey to becoming Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

With music and lyrics by multi-Oscar, Golden Globe and Grammy Award winner Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Pippin, The Prince of Egypt, The Hunchback of Notre Dame) and a book by Tony Award-nominee Winnie Holzman, Wicked is currently the 12th longest-running show in West End history, having been seen at the Apollo Victoria Theatre London by over eleven million people.

Two-time Tony-winner Joe Mantello directs this “devilishly clever spin on The Wizard of Oz” (The Daily Telegraph), with musical staging by Tony-winner Wayne Cilento.

After the continuing success of the Broadway run, two US tours, two UK tours, and countless international productions, Wicked recently celebrated sixteen triumphant years at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. This essential West End musical is embarking on an ambitious tour visiting nine UK cities. You can view the full list of ATG theatres including on sale dates for Wicked tour below.

The Sunderland Empire is a historical theatre located in Sunderland, North East England. It was designed by Frank Matcham, a renowned British architect, and opened its doors to the public in 1907. The theatre has a rich history, having hosted many famous performers and productions over the years, including Charlie Chaplin, Harry Houdini, and Laurel and Hardy.

During its early years, the venue was one of the largest theatres in the country, and its grand auditorium with its ornate décor and intricate plasterwork remains one of its main attractions. Over the years, the theatre has undergone several renovations and restorations, but it has retained its original charm and character.

Today, the Sunderland Empire continues to be a popular venue for live performances, including West End productions, comedy acts, musicals, and concerts. Its seating capacity of over 1,800 makes it one of the largest theatres in the North East of England, and its rich history and beautiful architecture continue to attract visitors from all over the world.
