Bond to join Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

Samantha BondSamantha Bond is to join the cast of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, which opens at the Savoy Theatre in 2014. Also announced, is Alice Fearn who is joining the cast. Alice is probably best know for her performances in Shrek The Musical where she played the parts of Gingy, Sugar Plum Fairy and also Princess Fiona. Our interview with Alice Fearn when she was appearing in Shrek.

Commenting on Twitter today (Friday 13th December), Alice wrote “So excited to say I’m joining cast of @ScoundrelsUK … Unreal cast and amazing director @jammyprod!! Also one of my fav shows

Samantha Bond, a former Miss Moneypenny who returns to the stage often in ‘straight’ roles, will co-star with Robert Lindsay, Rufus Hound, Katherine Kingsley and John Marquez in the musical comedy Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, which heads to the Savoy Theatre from 10th March after a pre-West End run in Manchester and Aylesbury.

Samantha Bond is probably best known for her roles as Miss Moneypenny in the James Bond films during the Pierce Brosnan years, as Auntie Angela in the BBC comedy Outnumbered, Lady Rosamund Painswick in Downton Abbey, and as the original Ms. Liz Probert in Rumpole of the Bailey.

Bond found auditioning for director Jerry Mitchell and the show’s composer and writers ‘absolutely terrifying’.

Mitchell and his colleagues are said to have found her enchanting, and perfect to play Muriel, an American divorcee living on the French Riviera who comes into contact with a team of con artists who cheat wealthy women out of their trust funds.

The 52-year-old actress admitted to feeling a tad rusty before she auditioned. ‘I hadn’t sung in a show since I was Principal Boy in Mother Goose in Bristol, when I was 22,’ she joked.

Dirty Rotten ScoundrelsSamantha Bond will join Robert Lindsay, Rufus Hound, Katherine Kingsley and John Marquez in this hotly anticipated show, directed by the popular and hugely successful Tony winner Jerry Mitchell at the Savoy Theatre. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels has music and lyrics by Drama Desk Award winner David Yazbek and book by the Golden Globe and Emmy-Award winning Jeffrey Lane.

The show begins in the West End on 10th March, after runs at the Manchester Opera House (commencing 12th February) and the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury (commencing 26th February).

Cast includes: Lizzy Connolly as Jolene, Gavin Alex, Darren Bennett, Niamh Bracken, Lisa Bridge, Darren Carnall, Andy Conaghan, Lizzy Connolly, Phoebe Coupe, Claire Doyle, Alice Fearn, Selina Hamilton, Ian Knauer, Lisa Mathieson, Zak Nemorin, Genevieve Nicole, Javier Santos, Todd Talbot, Dominic Tribuzio, Jon Tsouras and Zara Warren.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels will be a hot show to see in 2014. Don’t take my word for it, book a ticket and get along to see the show!
