The Four Fridas is a spectacular, outdoor theatre production celebrating the life and work of the legendary Mexican artist Friday Kahlo, bringing together some of Britain’s most exciting creative talent, including music and video from BAFTA award winners Dan Jones and Tal Rosner, and a specially commissioned appearance by Shechter Junior (Hofesh Schechter Company), representing the very best of a talented new generation f young dancers.
Performed from 1st to 4 July at the Royal Artillery Barracks, Woolwich SE18, the event will be seen by 15,000 people spread over 5 nights, with booking for 1000 seats each night from 10am on Thursday 14 May. In addition substantial free promenade access will be available on the day.
Audiences will be immersed in a visually thrilling experience, which will include aerial performance from Wired Aerial Theate, stunning staging from designer Georgia Low, Lighting by Olivier Award winner Natasha Chivers, animation from Rachel Gadsden, an original script from Jay Griffiths, pyrotechnics, and a rare opportunity to witness the legendary Mexican dance of the Voladores. This breathtaking ceremony takes place from a 20m high pole, from which a group of fearless women take flight.
