Caissie Levy in Ghost The Musical

Caissie LevyCaissie Levy was born in the port city of Hamilton, in the Canadian province of Ontario on 15th April, 1981.

She was initially set to study Shakespeare in Canada, but it was suggested to her that she auditioned for the New York’s American Musical and Dramatic Academy. She auditioned and got in.

She graduated from AMDA in 1999, after appearing with the Player’s Guild, the Tivoli and David Dayler’s New Faces. A week after graduating, Caissie made a name for herself, playing the role of the sassy Maureen Johnson in the U.S. national tour of Rent.

Caissie has also taught several audition workshops for students in the NYC area. She recently starred in the London transfer of “Hair”.

Levy’s big break came when she played the role of Penny Pingleton in both the Broadway and U.S. national tour companies of Hairspray after understudying the role in the Toronto company. During this time, she also covered the role of Amber Von Tussle.

In 2008, Caissie starred as Elphaba in the Los Angeles sit-down production of Wicked. She had previously understudied the role on Broadway and briefly served as standby in Los Angeles. Her first performance took place on 1st January, 2008, replacing Eden Espinosa. She left the show on 11th May of the same year, and was replaced by her standby Teal Wicks.

Caissie starred as Sheila in the Broadway revival of Hair, which opened on 31st March, 2009 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. She left the Broadway cast on the 7th March, 2010,  to open in the West End revival which began performances on 1st April, 2010 at the Gielgud Theatre. The show closed on 4th September, 2010.

Caissie recently performed at the Whatsonstage.com Awards and gave a stunning performance that I am sure caused the spine to tingle of many in the audience. She was breathtaking! Caissie performed songs from Ghost The Musical (in which she plays Molly), which is a new musical based on the hit film Ghost starring Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore, Tony Goldwyn and Whoopi Goldberg.  The musical opened on 28th March at the Manchester Opera House and runs to 14th May,  before transferring to the Piccadilly Theatre in the West End, opening on 22nd June.

She stars alongside Richard Fleeshman (Sam Wheat) in what will I am sure be a smash hit musical. Watch out for next year’s awards ceremonies. If the rest of the show is as good as Caissie’s singing it will be a smash hit.

This stunning new musical is written by Oscar winner Bruce Joel Rubin, with music and lyrics by Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard. GHOST is directed by Matthew Warchus with illusions by Paul Kieve and choreography by Ashley Wallen. Be one of the first in the world to experience this great new musical.
