Clout Theatre’s How a Man Crumbled at Mimetic Festival

How a Man CrumbledHow a Man Crumbled comes to London’s MIMETIC FESTIVAL following international success.

Fresh from performing to packed houses in China, Lecoq trained physical theatre company Clout Theatre’s award winning piece returns to London for a five night run in the suitably cavernous Vaults, as part of Mimetic Festival.

Back for its first London showing since a sell out at the Roundhouse in 2013, this show inspired by Russian absurdist poet Daniil Kharms is grotesque celebration of silent film, illogic and vegetable violence.

Ridiculous, hilarious, baffling and unnerving: an hour of sheer pleasure’ (The Scotsman)

Originally created in a dusty squat by the train tracks at La Chapelle in Paris, this piece has gone on to tour to the Battersea Arts Centre, The Roundhouse, the Meyerhold Centre in Moscow, Maschinenhaus in Essen, Hangzhou Grand Theater and Beijing People’s Art Theatre.

It is a real pleasure to bring this show back to London, the smoggy town where it made it’s true debut, and where better than under a railway station’ (George Ramsay, Clout Theatre)

The macabre setting of The Vaults beneath Waterloo couldn’t be more appropriate for this piece inhabited by clay clad ‘gleeful, scabrous storytellers’ (The Herald), who constantly break the narrative for absurdist vignettes ‘Mikhail Bulgakov retold by The Three Stooges’ Total Theatre
