Illusionist Derren Brown’s new show opens tonight at the Palace Theatre in London’s West End.
Following his sell-out 105-date national tour, the multi award-winning acknowledged master of psychological illusion returns to the West End stage with his new one-man show DERREN BROWN: MIRACLE. He is set to play a limited 10-week season at the Palace Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue from Wednesday 11th November 2015 to Saturday 16th January 2016. The show opens tonight, Tuesday 17th November, following a preview period at the venue.
Derren Brown will continue to tour the show in 2016 after his West End season.
MIRACLE has a more philosophical flavour and invites audiences to look at ways of thinking that might make us all happier.
Speaking about the show, Brown said: “More than any other show it’s been an extraordinary voyage. Some of its braver aspects not only work but seem to work unsettlingly well. In some ways it’s the boldest, most contentious show yet. But audiences are responding well to it. And I just love doing it – it’s quite a roller-coaster.”
He has remained tight-lipped about what people can expect from MIRACLE, and asked also that journalists and audience members not ‘spoil the surprise’. The miracle idea is quite central to the show though, as is the reliance on audience participation – something which all of Brown’s previous shows have been created around.
Derren Brown first made his name with his Channel 4 TV show series, Mind Control, in 2000. He has since appeared in numerous television shows and specials, and made his stage debut in 2003 with DERREN BROWN LIVE.
MIRACLE is his seventh stage show since then. He has toured every year and been watched by an estimated audience of over one and a half million people. Previous shows SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES (2006) and SVENGALI (2012) both earned him Olivier Awards, and his last show, INFAMOUS, played at the Palace Theatre in 2013/14 to critical acclaim.
DERREN BROWN: MIRACLE is presented by Michael Vine, Andrew O’Connor and Derren Brown for Vaudeville Productions Ltd. The show is written by Derren Brown with Andy Nyman and Andrew O’Connor, who also direct. It has Set Design by Simon Higlett, Lighting Design by Tim Mascall, Sound Design by Colin Pink, and Video Design by Simon Wainwright.
The performance is not suitable for children under 12 years of age.
