  1. This production of ‘FOLLIES’ has to be the most spectacular, yet it remains authentic and true to the original concept.
It’s very sad when a theatre that has had an illustrious past has to be demolished and replaced by a development with no style or obvious benefit to the surrounding area.
I was fortunate to see the show earlier this year and was entirely blown away by the performances, the brilliant orchestra and the quite remarkable award-wining set design.
The story of the former ‘Follies’ performers gathering at a reunion on the old theatre’s stage to re-live half forgotten memories, and share old times is at times humourous, emotional and angst-ridden. The former selves of the main characters shadow, and even interact with them.. the fabulously costumed showgirls of yesteryear float about with a stunning ethereal quality….
The whole thing is wondrous and I
can’t wait to see it again.
‘FOLLIES’ is a triumph for the National Theatre and the original cast recording is due to be released
and will be a sure fire success.
    Well done to all concerned.
