Full schedule for Crowley and Co’s THE LOCKER at Vault Festival

The LockerFor the first time in its five-year history, the Heritage Arts team has handed over the responsibility of a part of its VAULT Festival programming to another company. Crowley & Co. is delighted to launch VAULT’s new space for 2016 with its two-week residency: The Locker.

Four of the shows taking place in The Locker are original productions of new writing from the Crowley & Co. team. These are:
The Awkward Ghost by Wooden Overcoats creator David K Barnes.
The Signal-Man by Charles Dickens in a new adaptation by Simon Blake, celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the publication of Charles Dickens’s classic ghost story.
Valkyrie by Felix Trench, a co-production with the award-winning Oneohone Theatre.
Best Served Cold, the next play by Cordelia Lynn after her Royal Court debut, Lela & Co.

A host of visiting performers, companies and musicians including Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Kieran Hodgson, celebrated cabaret artist and storyteller Mary Beth Morossa and cult-hit seven-piece rock and roll band Felix Hagan and the Family stop in at The Locker for one night only. Every corner of the space and every minute of the schedule has been filled to ensure that The Locker is the most essential experience of VAULT Festival 2016.

Set and venue designer Anna Driftmier has created a bespoke environment for Crowley & Co. and all its fellow Locker companies to occupy. In communication with VAULT Festival’s in-house designer and technical supervisors, The Locker is a pop-up mini-festival within the larger festival in every sense. This design includes a welcoming anteroom including Driftmier’s custom designs and a gallery exhibition of a host of contemporary artists, designers and illustrators.

In partnership with Arts Emergency, Crowley & Co. present a workshop and showcase which gives a team of very young playwrights their first chance to stage a short play with professional writers and directors. The Cadets’ team of mentors, actors and directors will ensure that these young writers have the chance to realise their scripts more completely than ever before, and see them performed in a one-of-a-kind showcase, not to be missed.

Prizing story, character and collaboration above all else, Crowley & Co. has developed and produced new stage writing ever since its inception in 2014. Having earned a reputation for keenly and supportively playing host to new work, through its free monthly arts magazine, The Paper, and its monthly variety show, The Night, Crowley & Co.is using the same principles and enthusiasm to fill The Locker with thrilling, unique new stories, well told.
