Six weeks of vibrant theatre in Wimbledon’s best kept secret space
Illuminate Festival – at New Wimbledon Studio
From Thurs 2nd April to Sat 9th May, New Wimbledon Studio will be opening its doors to a selection of theatre from both established and emerging artists, showcasing everything from folk music to Shakespeare, sketch comedy to dance and everything in between.
Established by Co-Artistic Directors’ Alice Sillett and Sarah Dullaghan, Illuminate is a platform for small scale companies to share their work. This festival aims to raise the profile of this versatile studio space by encouraging affordability and accessibility for audiences and companies alike, as well as encouraging audiences to try something new.
Alice Sillett and Sarah Dullaghan are no strangers to New Wimbledon Theatre as they both work at the venue on a part-time basis. Alice says “We are thrilled to be making our festival debut at New Wimbledon Studio and we are really excited to show everyone a range of fantastic shows across this month”.

She has directed and produced a number of projects, from shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to the London Fringe Circuit, and most recently Theatrical Niche’s Lysistrata, which is showing during the Illuminate festival. Alice has worked extensively with the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain and Youth Music Theatre UK both as a performer and as a director and choreographer.
Sarah studied Dance and Musical Theatre Performance and has subsequently gone on to contribute her skills to arts in education working as a Creative Learning Specialist for the company Artis – transforming the curriculum through performing arts.
