JOSIE LAWRENCE as Wicked Queen in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Yvonne Arnaud Theatre

Josie Lawrence as The Wicked QueenHEIGH-HO, HEIGH-HO!  Guildford’s Yvonne Arnaud Theatre is thrilled to announce that Comedy Store Player Josie Lawrence will star as the fabulously witty Wicked Queen in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

From the age of five Josie Lawrence knew she wanted to be an actress.  In 1987, she joined the illustrious Comedy Store Players and shot to fame the following year as one of the regular contributors to Channel 4’s Whose Line is it Anyway?
Since then, Josie has appeared in a wide range of television and stage productions. Her many television roles include appearances in Eastenders as regular Manda Best, Jonathan Creek, Where the Heart Is, QI with Stephen Fry, Fat Friends, Down to Earth and the award-winning Outside Edge.

In theatre, Josie won the Shakespeare’s Globe Award for Best Actress for her performance as Kate in the RSC production of The Taming of the Shrew and the Manchester Evening News Award for Best Actress for her role as Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing.

Of her pantomime debut in Guildford, Josie says: “I’m really looking forward to coming to Guildford this Christmas to perform in my first ever Pantomime!

Everyone says that they have a brilliant time doing the Panto Season at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre and I can’t wait – especially as I’m playing one of my favourite characters, the Wicked Queen.  Please come along and laugh, and clap, and sing and boo me – yes, boo me!

Josie is joined on stage by one of the country’s top performers; the inimitable Kit Hesketh-Harvey.  Kit has made many appearances in the West End and on the Yvonne Arnaud stage as one half of the hilarious comedy duo, Kit & The Widow.  Guaranteed to make you laugh, hiss and boo, Kit returns to Guildford to play the Queen’s wayward aide, Herman the Henchman.

Making a welcome return and ready to embrace a brand new wardrobe of outrageous frocks, Surrey and Hampshire’s favourite breakfast show host, Eagle Radio’s Peter Gordon plays nifty, neighbourly Nurse Nora.

Both Guildford School of Acting graduates, last year’s delightful Buttons Jamie Brook returns to captivate audiences as Snow White’s best buddy, Muddles – and direct from Phantom of the Opera in London’s West End, Peter Dukes joins the cast as our dashing Prince Charming.

Guildford’s Performance Preparation Academy second year musical theatre student Amy Matthews is the fairest in the Land, taking the title role of Snow White.

And of course, we couldn’t tell this enchanting fairy-tale adventure without the help of Snow White’s group of small friends with big personalities.  Our magnificent seven dwarfs include film star Ray Griffiths (Willow, Star Wars, Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, The Prisoner of Azkaban and The Deathly Hallows).

Director Gerry Tebbutt and Choreographer Jill Francis return to infuse this traditional family pantomime with fun, magic and spectacle in true Guildford Style, with dazzling costumes designed by Jamie Attle.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs runs from Friday 5 December to Sunday 4 January and tickets are on sale now!  You can book yours by calling the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre Box Office on (01483) 44 00 00 or by visiting the website at www.yvonne-arnaud.co.uk
