Written by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm, The Wasp is an electric thriller asking how far beyond the playground we carry our childhood experiences and what lengths we are willing to go to overcome them.

Why do hurt people hurt people? Can we transcend and forgive others for the misguided wrongs done to us in childhood?

Heather and Carla haven’t seen each other since school. Their lives have taken very different paths – Carla lives a hand-to- mouth existence, while Heather has a high-flying career, a husband and a beautiful home.

And yet, here they are in a cafe having tea and making awkward conversation. That is until Heather presents Carla with an unexpected proposition.

Playwright Morgan Lloyd Malcolm’s play Belongings was produced at the Hampstead Theatre and Trafalgar Studios in 2011 to critical acclaim and was shortlisted for The Charles Wintour Most Promising Playwright Award and the Whatsonstage.com Best New Play Award.

Lisa Gorgin, seen most recently in White Gold (BBC), was Wendy-Jo in the original West End cast of Footloose (Novello Theatre and Playhouse Theatre). Selina Giles has performed with Robert Downey Jr (Restoration), Sam Rockwell (Piccadilly Jim), Jean-Claude Van Damme and Stephen Rea (Until Death), and Natalie Portman and John Hurt (V for Vendetta).

Director Anna Simpson trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. UK directing credits include: Dorian Gray (Pleasance Theatre, and Edinburgh Festival Fringe), The Government Inspector (Pleasance, London and Edinburgh Fringe Festival); Close to You (Southwark Playhouse, London; Royal Irish Academy of Music; Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2013); and Disco Pigs (Tristan Bates, London; the Brewery Theatre, Bristol).

Designer Mike Leopold has been nominated for Off West End Awards twice for Best Set Design – once for Proof at the Tabard Theatre, and again for Chummy at The White Bear Theatre. Other Theatre credits include: Thoroughly Modern Millie (Adelphi Theatre, Showtime Challenge); Hamlet (Bussey Building); and Montagu (Tabard Theatre).
