Superstar Update: Thursday 19th July 2012

July 20, 2012 Last updated: July 5, 2017 1:16 am By Neil Cheesman

Jesus Christ Superstar

This is a search for someone to play the role of Jesus in an Arena Tour of Jesus Christ Superstar and above all else whoever wins this competition MUST have a strong voice and a good vocal range otherwise Andrew Lloyd Webber will have problems. They must also have the ability to gain positive comments from the judges and more importantly win the support of the voting public. I have to say that I was very surprised tonight as I had believed that the judges’ comments would sway a significant … [Read more...]

Superstar Update: Afnan Iftikhar and Dirk Johnston

July 19, 2012 Last updated: July 5, 2017 1:16 am By Neil Cheesman

Afnan

ITV's Superstar is now in full swing with the first three contenders voted off from the live shows and the fourth to follow tonight. The first two were Afnan Iftikhar and Dirk Johnston and I asked them both a few questions to find out how they felt about the Superstar experience and what do they have planned next in their careers. Afnan, you are back in the North-East a couple of days after being voted off from superstar – have you had a chance to get back to a normal life? In a phrase, kind … [Read more...]

The Camden Fringe Festival comes to London this summer

Camden Festival

The last time I was in Camden was in October last year when I went to to see mind-reading magician Doug Segal perform his hit show I Know What You’re Thinking at the Etcetera Theatre fresh from its sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Camden is a wonderful experience, full of variety and colour, and the perfect place to visit if fringe theatre is your cup of tea. With that in mind, the month of August couldn’t be a more perfect time to go as, for the seventh year running, the Camden … [Read more...]

Superstar Update: Wednesday 18th July 2012

Jesus Christ Superstar

You can be sure that Littlewoods.com have spent a lot of money supporting Superstar on ITV with their adverts before every opening scene of the show - and before every Superstar video on the website. Who knows where Amanda Holden shops but she looked stunning as usual, tonight wearing a low-cut red dress, the only thing missing was Chris de Burgh singing Lady in Red. The whole group opened the show singing their version of Coldplay’s Viva la Vida. David Hunter and Tim Prottey-Jones were … [Read more...]

Superstar Update: Tuesday 17th July 2012

July 18, 2012 Last updated: July 5, 2017 1:16 am By Neil Cheesman

Jesus Christ Superstar

Once again the glamorous Amanda Holden opened proceedings being escorted down the stairway by two cool looking dudes! I guess she never wore those heels as Princess Fiona in Shrek The Musical and at that height might need a helping hand! The third night of live shows kicked off with a sexed-up version of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. To be honest I quite liked it. Andrew Lloyd Webber took the opportunity tonight of thanking Tim Rice for writing the lyrics for this fabulous … [Read more...]
