Robert Powell to star as Hercule Poirot in Bill Kenwright Production of Black Coffee

Theatre NewsRobert Powell is to star as Hercule Poirot in UK Tour of the Agatha Christie play Black Coffee.

Black Coffee will open at the Theatre Royal in Windsor on 7th January 2014 and touring until 10th May, concluding at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry.

Black Coffee, which is Christie’s first play, will also feature Liza Goddard, Gary Mavers and Ben Nealon.

Matthew Prichard, Agatha Christie’s grandson and chairman of Agatha Christie Ltd, said: “I am so pleased that Robert Powell has agreed to play Poirot in the Agatha Christie Theatre Company’s production of Black Coffee. He will be the latest in a long line of distinguished actors to play the role, and a real treat lies in store in 2014 for all those around the country who go to see the play.”

Produced by Bill Kenwright, by special arrangement with Agatha Christie Ltd, Black Coffee is directed by Joe Harmston, and has design by Simon Scullion, with lighting by Douglas Kuhrt, sound by Matthew Bugg and costume by Nikki Bird.
