A Spoonful of Sherman is on tour during 2018: Three generations of Sherman songwriting is brought to life in this delightful show: from Tin Pan Alley songwriter Al Sherman – writer for artists including Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald – to the Oscar and Grammy Award-winning Sherman Brothers (Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Jungle Book, Winnie the Pooh) up to present day, with songs from Robert J. Sherman’s own musical Love Birds.

The cast includes; Sophie-Louise Dann, Glen Facey, Jenna Innes, Mark Read and Ben Stock. Director/Choreographer: Stewart Nicholls

Q: What excites you most about being in this production of A Spoonful of Sherman?
Sophie-Louise: The opportunity of singing favourite songs from my childhood in one evening was too good an opportunity to miss.

Q: What would be your top 3 songs from the show (and why these)?
1. ‘Feed The Birds’ – such a simple but beautiful sentiment that resonates today.
2. ‘Tell Him Anything’ from ‘The Slipper and the Rose’. One of my favourite films growing up; I actually watched the DVD as I got ready for my wedding day!
3. ‘The Ugly Bug Ball’ – more childhood memories! I remember being a caterpillar in a dance festival when I was about 7yrs old!

Q: What do you enjoy most about being on tour?
Sophie-Louise: There is always a fun element of ‘getting in’ to a new space; seeing local places of interest and visiting various tea rooms with the company.

Q: Why should everyone get along to see the show?
Sophie-Louise: It’s a show that has universal appeal whether you’re 2 or 92! I guarantee you’ll be singing along with us and the tunes will stay with you for some time…it’s a perfect treat for all the family.

Q: What’s next for you in 2018?
Sophie-Louise: Having been in the West End with three major new British musicals, I’m enjoying returning to the revue/ cabaret format and being a little more up close and personal with an audience. Catch me in a brand new one-woman show ‘May I have a moment?’ on Sunday, April 8th at Mercury Theatre Colchester. A very special fundraising evening for the Mercury Rising refurbishment campaign.
