NYMT Producer Jeremy Walker added: “We may be playing an ENCORE but it’s only just the beginning! We look forward to commissioning still more great new musicals and to nurturing the next generation of musical theatre talent.

The NYMT represents the very best in work with young people through musical theatre enabling thousands of youngsters across the UK to develop both their creative and personal potential, leading Andrew Lloyd Webber to dub it “the best youth music theatre in the world”.

Since its inception, it has produced over 50 productions at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, premièred 50 new musical theatre works, toured several times outside the United Kingdom, and had runs in the West End and on Broadway. Among the many alumni of the NYMT who have gone on to careers in the performing arts are Jude Law (one of its patrons), Jonny Lee Miller, Sheridan Smith, Connie Fisher, Idris Elba and Matt Lucas.

NYMT’s 2016 season will include a tour of John Rutter’s The Piper of Hamelin; the world premiere of The Battle of Boat, a new musical by Donnelly & Maltby; Spring Awakening directed by Nikolai Foster at Curve, Leicester, and Brass, the UK Theatre Award-winning musical by Benjamin Till, to be staged at Hackney Empire.
