The World Goes ‘Round with songs of Kander and Ebb

The World Goes 'RoundUndoubtedly one of Broadway’s most respected writing teams, Kander and Ebb are celebrated through this evening of song, featuring music from their most celebrated works in a career spanning more than thirty years. Creating such scores as “Cabaret“, “Chicago” and “Kiss of the Spiderwoman” their collaboration has rewarded them with countless awards and the adoration of major recording artists. Now the Union Theatre is proud to present Kirk Jameson’s new production of “The World Goes ‘Round” playing for a strictly limited season.

Lisa Stokke: Lisa is probably best known for originating the role of Sophie in Mamma Mia. Her other stage works include Grace Farrell in Annie (Folketeateret in Oslo), Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls (Piccadilly Theatre and UK Tour) and Florence in Chess (Bømlo, Norway). For the Union Theatre, Lisa has previously appeared as Genevieve in The Baker’s Wife and Emma Goldman in Assassins. As well as her many television appearances, Lisa most recently provided the voiceover for Idina Menzel in the Norwegian Language version of the new Disney animated feature Frozen where she plays Elsa, the Snow Queen.

Simon Green: Most recently Simon appeared as Bruce Ismay in the Southwark Playhouse’s revival of Titanic. His numerous other credits include M. Andre in Cameron Macintosh’s new production of The Phantom of the Opera (national tour), M. Lefevre in the 25th anniversary production of Phantom and Sondhiem at 80 for BBC Proms (Royal Albert Hall), Jules/Bob Greenberg in Sunday in the Park with George (Menier Chocolate Factory and Wyndham’s), Lumiere in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (Dominion), Passion (Queen’s), Elegies (Criterion), Young Ben in Follies (Shaftesbury), March of the Falsettos (Albery), Coriolanus (Young Vic),and Tony in The Boyfriend (Albery). For the Royal Shakespeare Company he played the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz (Stratford and Barbican) and Frank Schultz in Showboat, co-production with Opera North (London Palladium and national tour). Together with his musical director and arranger, David Shrubsole, his cabarets have been seen by many in London and, in New York, at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, Feinstein’s and two seasons at 59E59 Theaters: 2008 with Coward at Christmas and 2009 with Simon Green – Traveling Light.

Gareth Snook:Gareth appeared as Monsieur Andre in the West End production of in Phantom of the Opera, following which he was invited to play the part at the 25th Anniversary production at the Royal Albert Hall. Other credits include Lee Harvey Oswald in Assassins and Peter in Company, Alex in Aspects of Love and Harry in My Fair Lady. Gareth also created the role of Artie Green in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard (Adelphi) and appeared in the original London production of Kander and Ebb’s The Rink (Cambridge). Gareth played Bamatabois in the 10th Anniversary Concert of Les Miserables and was a principal soloist in the Ira Gershwin Tribute Who Could Ask For Anything More – both televised at the Royal Albert Hall and also appeared for Cameron Mackintosh in Hey! Mr Producer performed at the Lyceum Theatre.

Emma Francis: Emma performed as the Queen of Translyvania in My Fair Lady at Kilworth House. Other theatre credits include ‘Madame Ranevskaya’ in The Cherry Orchard (The Lord Stanley, London), ‘Mrs Lovett’ in Sweeney Todd (Union Theatre), ‘Miss Bell’ in Fame (Shaftesbury Theatre, London), ‘Simone’ in A Bedfull of Foreigners (British Theatre Playhouse, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur), ‘Angel’ in Anything Goes (National Tour), ‘Annie’ in Chicago (European Tour), ‘Barelli Sister’ and Resident Director in Rat Pack Live at Las Vegas (Strand Theatre, London and European Tour), Mrs Higgins’ Maid in My Fair Lady (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane), ‘Marty’ in Grease (National Tour), ‘Minister’s Wife/Mrs Simpson’ in Tommy (National Tour), ‘Carmen’ in Sweet Charity (English Theatre, Frankfurt, and Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch), ‘Simeon’s Wife’ in RUG’s Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (National Tour).

Susan Fay: Susan has returned to the West End many times during the past 24 years including appearances in Me and My Girl, Buddy, Les Miserables, Martin Guerre, Saturday Night Fever, Spend Spend Spend and My Fair Lady at Drury Lane. Most recently Sue spent four years in Billy Elliott before joining the company of Oliver! at Drury Lane. She has also appeared in Half a Sixpence at the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Cabaret at the Sheffield Crucible and The Threepenny Opera for Opera North.
