LAZARUS THEATRE COMPANY present Troilus and Cressida/Coriolanus by William Shakespeare
Following last year’s sell out production of The Tragedy of Mariam, Lazarus returns to the Tristan Bates Theatre and to the Camden Fringe for the fifth time. Shakespeare’s exhilarating love story, Troilus and Cressida and Coriolanus a gripping examination of power and corruption, come together for Our World at War.
Two young lovers, Troilus and Cressida, are thrust into the tempest of war, their love tested, punished and ultimately torn apart. When war and lechery confound all, what chance is there for love?
Rome’s prodigal son must lead a war against a villainous enemy. Triumphant and applauded as hero on his return, Coriolanus is thrust into a media frenzy. His disgust for the political elite and his distrust of the people leads to his dismissal, dishonour and exile. His revenge shall be the end for all.
Award winning Lazarus Theatre Company is committed to producing the best in classical theatre for a modern audience; our work involves text, movement and music through the use of ensemble to create re-imagined, fresh and bold adaptations of some of our greatest works.
Opening in the final week of the 2014 Camden Fringe Festival, Our World at War season then continues until the 6th September with Troilus and Cressida playing at 7.30pm and Coriolanus at 9.00pm, Monday to Saturday.
