Mundo Pixar Experience – Wembley Park | Review

Have you ever dreamed of being on a mission with Buzz Lightyear, scaring a child with Sulley, or even Finding Nemo yourself? Well, dream no longer. Get yourself down to the Mundo Pixar Exhibition that has just opened in Wembley. I was lucky enough to get invited to the press night and here are my thoughts on the experience.

Being a big kid at heart, I was really looking forward to visiting the exhibition, and I was not disappointed. You book a time slot, and we arrive at the large, welcoming reception area. While waiting to go in, we had our first photo opportunity – make sure your phone is at full battery as you will be taking lots of pictures and videos. After a quick introduction where we were given the rules of the exhibition and offered the challenge of finding the ‘Pixar Ball’ – one in every scene – we started on our journey of fourteen rooms covering 3,500 square metres and thirteen separate scenes. I am not going to explain every room to you, but we started outside Carl’s house from “Up,” and this sets the standard for the rest of the exhibition. The scene looks as if it has literally come to life from the screen. Before going into each room, there is a poster telling you about the film scene you are about to walk into. So, if you have never seen the film, you get some background information, and if you do know the film, you might just learn something – for example, Sulley’s furry blue coat in Monsters Inc was made up of 2,320,413 individual hairs. For me, the attention to detail in each scene was astounding. So, on the Scare Floor in Monster’s Inc, not only were there Sulley and Mike to have your photo with, but you could peek behind one of the doors to see into the bedroom of Sulley’s next victim.

As well as Up and Monsters Inc, there are rooms dedicated to Toy Story, Inside Out, Cars, and many more. As well as the Pixar Ball, each room has camera icons at various places on the floor, as a suggestion of where to take pictures. If you want a group pic, then there are staff in every room happy to be David Bailey for you.

Coming out an hour or so after going, with bug grins on our faces, my companion and I walked through the inevitable shop, trying not to be tempted to spend a month’s pay on the myriad items in there and talking about the experience. My favourite rooms were Andy’s bedroom from Toy Story 1 and Finding Nemo, which was such a relaxing and calming room. Incidentally, when you get in there, look at the strap on the back of the underwater goggles. You will really understand what I mean by attention to detail.

Summing up the Mundo Pixar Exhibition. I could have stayed in the exhibition longer than the hour we spent there. It would have been nice if there had been some sort of café for a sit-down after walking around for so long, but you cannot have everything in a temporary exhibition. The exhibition is fully accessible and suitable for all ages. And I think it is going to be very popular between now and when it closes – currently in June. Although there were a lot of people walking through, none of the rooms ever seemed overly full, and we were always able to get the pictures we wanted. Moving through the rooms and seeing each scene was a wonderful experience and completely distracted us from the lousy weather and journey home. Great time!

The global phenomenon Mundo Pixar Experience has officially opened in London, bringing the largest immersive Pixar exhibition on Earth to the UK for the very first time.

Now open in a spectacular purpose-built venue in Wembley Park, this landmark attraction invites families, film fans and Pixar lovers of all ages to step inside the movies that have shaped generations.

The exhibition spans more than 3,500 square metres, and features 14 Pixar universes including over 25 sculptures, inviting guests to explore meticulously recreated environments from “Toy Story”, “Monsters, Inc.”, “Cars”, “Finding Nemo”, “Inside Out”, “Coco”, “Up”, and many more fan favourites. Each space combines detailed set design, ambient music, and specially crafted scents to immerse visitors in Pixar’s most beloved stories.

Visitors can shrink down to toy size in Andy’s Room from “Toy Story”, explore the Scare Floor at “Monsters, Inc.” with Mike and Sulley, race into Flo’s Café from “Cars” to meet Lightning McQueen, or soar through the skies with Carl Fredricksen from “Up”. They can also visit the Headquarters of Riley’s emotions from “Inside Out 2”, and journey from “Coco” Land of the Living to the Land of the Dead.

The London exhibition also introduces a never-before-seen environment: Sunnyside Daycare from “Toy Story 3,” featuring beloved characters such as Jessie, Lotso, and the Aliens. The experience will also showcase additional characters appearing for the first time, including Dory from “Finding Nemo” and Tow Mater from “Cars”.
