This Summer the RSC are producing a festival of new plays, in a purpose-built temporary studio on the Courtyard Theatre stage. Deputy Artistic Director Erica Whyman leads the festival, with new plays written by Alice Birch, Timberlake Wertenbaker, E.V. Crowe and Abi Zakarian.
The plays in the festival are intended to be a contemporary response to The Roaring Girls season in the Swan Theatre, so we have given our writers an initial provocation:
“Well behaved women seldom make history”
These daring and radical plays will be performed over two evenings made up of two short plays each playing in repertoire with a shared cast.
Programme A is directed by Erica Whyman with plays by Alice Birch and Timberlake Wertenbaker.
