The UK premiere of the play Apples In Winter beautifully gives voice to the hidden victims of crime. Jennifer Fawcett’s compelling play tells the story of an American mother whose son committed a violent crime. He’s been on death row for 22 years. In a few hours, the state will execute him. As is the tradition, he is granted a last meal: he asks for his mother’s apple pie.
As the mother shows the audience how to make the perfect pie, they watch her attempt to understand what happened to her son – and how everything changed that night 22 years ago. Programme of post-show discussions on the issues raised.
The mother is played by Edie Campbell; the production is directed by Claire Parker
