Arcola Ala-Turka present THE INTRUDER and BALD PRIMA DONNA

THE INTRUDER / Dışardan Gelen + BALD PRIMA DONNA / Kel ŞarkıcıArcola Ala-Turka presents: THE INTRUDER / Dışardan Gelen + BALD PRIMA DONNA / Kel Şarkıcı (in Turkish with English surtitles). Ala-Turka is one of the UKs leading Turkish language theatre companies.

Arcola Turkish & Kurdish Theatre Group was born in 2001 when Artistic Director Mehmet Ergen led a series of workshops with young adult members of the Turkish and Kurdish community. These workshops developed into the first production, A View from the Bridge by Arthur Miller, performed in Turkish and directed by Mehmet Ergen.

Since then, Ala-Turka have continued to regularly produce Turkish language productions of both new work and classics, most recently staging ADINI SÖYLE/ SAY YOUR NAME, a new devised theatre piece telling the story of recent Gezi Movement in Turkey. This show ran across six sold out performances in January 2014 and returned for a limited run in March 2014.

Ala-Turka will be staging their next production from Tuesday 24th- Saturday 28th June in Studio 2. This production will be a double bill of Symbolist and Absurdist masterpieces of European Theatre, directed by award winning theatre and opera director Aylin Bozok.

This production is in Turkish with English surtitles.

As this follows on from the sold out production ADINI SÖYLE / SAY YOUR NAME which ran at Arcola Theatre in January and returned in March. We anticipate strong sales, so book early to avoid disappointment.

We hope you can help us spread the word by twitter, email of any other channels, and we hope to see you at the show!

The Intruder by Maurice Maeterlinck is a ghost story in which a family is gathered to await the arrival of a sister of mercy to attend an ailing woman: the flickering light, the silence in the garden and the blind grandfather’s sense, that death has entered the room.

Cast: Gökmen Güvener, Ozan Atmaca, Olgu Kocakülah, Özlem Atik, Serpil Delice, Deniz Gezici and Hülya Ciereszko

In Bald Prima Donna, a comedy by Eugène Ionesco, the Smiths are a traditional couple from London who have invited another couple, the Martins, over for a visit. They are joined later by the Smiths’ maid, Mary, and the local fire chief, who is also Mary’s lover. The two families engage in meaningless banter, telling stories which gradually descend into the Absurd.

Cast: Buke Soyusinmez, Dursun Kuran, Ada Burke, Ozan Atmaca, Olgu Kocakülah and Serpil Delice.

This production is in Turkish with English surtitles.
