Prince Plockey returns after his sensational performance as Tamburlaine to play ill-fated lover, Giovanni. Newcomer Lucy Walker-Evans joins the company as his sister, Annabella.

Lazarus Theatre Company are proud to announce that Prince Plockey shall return to the company after his triumphant performance as Tamburlaine last year to play ill-fated lover, Giovanni. Making her Lazarus debut, Lucy Walker-Evans plays his sister, Annabella.

It’s great to be teaming up with Lazarus again for my fourth season. I’m new to ‘Tis Pity She’s a Whore’, I had never read the play before but once I did it was hard to resist. Giovanni is arrogant, headstrong and deeply passionate. I’m looking forward to getting stuck in!” Said Plockey.

Princes previous Lazarus credits include the title roles in Richard III, Blue Elephant Theatre 2014, Coriolanus, Tristan Bates 2014 and Tamburlaine Tristan Bates 2015.

Making her Lazarus Debut Lucy Walker-Evans takes on the iconic role of Annabella.

Also making their Lazarus Debut, Edward Boon takes the role of Friar, Alexander Allin the role of Florio, Luke Dunford and Sasha Wilson take on the roles of Bergetto and Hippolita respectively. Steph Reynolds plays the role of Putana while Valerie Isaiah plays the role of Philotis. Also returning to the company: after playing Bassanio in our 2013 production of The Merchant of Venice, Alexander Shenton plays the role of Soranzo, after playing Fluellen in our all-female Henry V in 2014, Reggie Seeley plays the role of Donado, Nick Biadon returns after recently playing Dionysus in The Bacchae to play the role of Richadetto and Stephen MacNeice returns after playing the role of Shylock in The Merchant of Venice in 2013 to play Vasques.

“What better way to conclude our Rebellion and Revolution season than with John Ford’s ground breaking and provocative play. This company is a mix of old and new company members bringing a vibrant, energetic and deeply sexual energy to this pulsating play. Audiences are in for a treat, complete with a “splash zone”; it’s not for the faint hearted!” Said Dukes on today’s casting announcement.

John Ford’s masterpiece follows two young lovers, Annabella and Giovanni, caught in the grip of sexual adventure and discovery. But their love is damned and their sex is a sin; they are Brother and Sister. When the siblings’ love is discovered – their world is changed forever.

Lazarus is an award winning Theatre Company, re-imagining and revitalising classic text for a contemporary audience. ‘Tis Pity She’s a Whore is directed by Lazarus Theatre Artistic Director, Ricky Dukes.
